Summary: Best engineering textbook I own.
Comment: This text is my required for my Thermodynamics class at NCSU. It is by far the best written text book I have for any of my 'generic' engineering classes, like thermo, statics, or whatever. The books for my major (NE) are probably not as straight forward, either.

You could read the text, take some notes, work the problems, and get everything you need for the class. The book is easy to read, explains concepts well, and includes real-world examples in each chapter that apply to the discussed material.

My text came bundled with a perfect bound book of property tables which is required for our tests in class, and also makes it easier to do homework because you don't have to flip to the back of the text or go digging around on the internet.

Summary: Disjoint, jumbled, approach
Comment: This review applies to the 6th edition. This is probably one of the worst text books I've used. The material is presented in a jumbled and disjoint manner. Key concepts get dropped in on the bottom of the page just before the author takes us on a flight to neverland. The various topical discussions are a distraction from the subject at hand and seem to break important trains of thought.

As another reviewer mentioned, the example problems are less complex than the student problems. Seems like the examples include the key information but the student problems leave you to first work out the missing data before you can start the actual problem. Likewise, many of the problems are in English units, but the tables are in SI (more or less), meaning you have to do a unit conversion just to get started. While we all need to know how to do that, after the umpteenth time, it gets a little old. Been there, done that, got the tee shirt.

Symbology -- the authors uses very similar font for different concepts, sometimes only font size is the distinguishing trait. Also, many key formulas are in a yellowish font that is hard on the eyes.

Very few of the student problems have answers provided. This means you have no way to check your work.

All in all, a very poor text.

Summary: Nice
Comment: The text is easy to read, well-written, and not that boring, which are all essential to keep a reader interested and attentive. The examples are pretty good. The only down side to this book is that you have to constantly flip back to the appendix to look up material property values in order to solve problems, but other than that, it's a book I recommend.

Summary: Fresh and New
Comment: It is brand new and shipped 3-4 days after the purchase. It will be good if it is attached with the property tables
