Editorial Reviews:

While the world carries on unawares, Stryker, who leads an army of demons and vampires, is plotting an all out onslaught against his enemies—which, unfortunately for us, includes the entire human race. To avenge his sister, Stryker prepares to annihilate the Dark-Hunters. But things go awry when his oldest enemy returns. Enter his ex-wife. Zephyra. Just when he thought nothing could stop him, he’s now embroiled in a centuries old war with a shrew who gives new meaning to pain.

Summary: Amazing talent... (possible minor spoiler)
Comment: Kenyon is an amazing talent. She can write a book about a bad guy, make him the hero of his own story, and still keep him a bad guy! The characters and detail of this imaginative world are continually entertaining. Can't wait for the next one. I'm glad she's chosen to share her creations with us.

Summary: Get it from the library...
Comment: I had a feeling this wasn't going to be my favorite Dark Hunter book and it definitely isn't. My advice is to check it out at the library and save your money for the next one.

I had a very hard time keeping some of the names and origins straight. I don't mind having to think while I'm reading but this was a little extreme. It's also very hard to enjoy when the main characters are so unlikable. How can you like someone who enjoys torturing?

The best parts of the book were about Nick and Ash but the main characters really should have been just a sidenote in another book. They certainly didn't warrant a book of their own.

Summary: Come on people! Give it a chance!
Comment: Come on people give it a chance! This isn't all about the Dark-Hunters anymore. Acheron ended that. Sherrilyn Kenyon has said so. Acheron marked a new beginning in the series. Here it is verbateum from her website "As far as the series goes, we are currently in stage 1 of it and Acheron will launch us into part 2. I see the entire series as one large, ongoing story that has 4 major parts: The first part is Acheron. Part 2 will be Jaden. Part 3 will be Savitar, and 4 involves a character the readers aren't yet familiar with." So open your mind to a new perspective on old characters; walk in their shoes, see their side of the fight. You won't be dissapointed :)

Summary: One Silent Surprise
Comment: Ok, so I was having a hard time seeing Stryker as any kind of a hero. BUT Sheri changed my mind. He's no angel and never will be, but I did come to see him as more sympathetic that I had before.

Styker didn't have an easy life, cursed by Apollo in his anger, a lot of Syrker's problem is understanding and accepting what jerk his father is, and how he has no care for anyone save himself.

There were a lot of surprises in the book and while I would not say it is my favorite, I definitely enjoyed it and look forward to more of the DH series and whatever revelations will come next. It will be interesting to see what effect the changes in this book will have down the line.

All in all, I give it an A!

Thanks, Sherri!

Lil

Summary: Hateful Characters
Comment: I can't imagine why Sherrilyn Kenyon thought that writing a romance about a bunch of cruel, hateful characters would appeal to anyone. I find it impossible to think that Stryker (who murdered his own child) deserves a happily ever after with Zahara who frequently tortures another character in the book. This whole story was totally icky.
