Editorial Reviews:

In this book, Psychologist Richard Carlson teaches the 10 principles of growth-oriented, contented living and reveals how traditional therapy often interferes with the healing process. He teaches techniques that encourage living in the moment, letting go of negative mind states and past traumas, and using positive thinking and visualization.

Summary: Best insight on Thinking and Mood
Comment: This book provides such a good insight on thinking and mood. It made me see mental disorders in a new way. I have read a lot of self-help books, but the principle in this book cannot be found anywhere else. I love Carlson's books. I have almost every one of his books. And this one is one of the best.

Summary: Can save a LOT of money on therapy.
Comment: A great book. Has more secrets to happiness than any of the other trendy books. It's all there, thanks to Carlson. The tough part is DOING what he asks of you. Good luck.

Summary: Really is a Shortcut
Comment: I have gone to therapy, but it always seems to take forever, they always want to schedule you "next week." And you know people always want to give advice. Sometimes we don't always like to hear the same thing over and over again. It is nice to get helpful advice in this book from an expert who is detached to our lives. This advice is helpful, to the point.

The book is a nice size too. You can carry it in your purse or with you. It also is a great conversation piece as the title is kind of funny and the principles are universal to so many people.

Really a great book!

Summary: Very positive!
Comment: I had gone through my share of traditional therapy and this book offered me a totally new perspective. No more dwelling on the past, lets move on and deside for ourselves how we are going to feel every day, and it's ok not to be perfect. The book offered a doorway into the fact that I and only I can decide how I will look at my life and deal with whatever issues will come up. I hugely recommend it!

Summary: It will change your life
Comment: I just finished reading this book, Shortcut Through Therapy, twice. I want to study it until I really "get it". When I read a book I underline what speaks to me and this book has almost every page highlighted! Richard Carlson had a way of putting "truths" into everyday language that the average person can understand. I do feel the book could have spun a more positive note regarding therapists or else not mentioned them at all. I plan on buying 10 copies to pass around to friends and family. Last year I passed around copies of, The Big Book of Small Stuff, also by Richard Carlson, and it was well appreciated by most of the recipients.
