THE NEW REASON WHY CHRISTINE FEEHAN IS “THE QUEEN OF PARANORMAL ROMANCE” (USA Today)
.Vampire Manolito De La Cruz has caught the scent of his destined lifemate in MaryAnn Delaney, an all-too-human female who’d never surrender herself to an aggressive and brutish Carpathian male. But maybe MaryAnn doesn’t have a choice.

Customer Rating: Summary: "No matter how dark the night, somehow the sun rises once again and all shadows are chased away" David Matthew Click Comment: Manolito De La Cruz is one of the oldest and most powerful Carpathians. When their prince sent out word for their hunters to spread and rid the world of their greatest enemies, he and his brothers were sent to South America. For centuries he has fought countless battles with the vampires with each kill stealing a piece of his soul. Only his code of honor and his brothers' guidance kept him from succumbing to darkness. So this great hunter continues the fight to save his race and continues to search for his salvation. When Prince Mikhail called for the Carpathians to gather (see Dark Celebration), Manolito didn't anticipate that he would finally find the only thing that would save him - the other half of his soul.
Mary Ann Delaney is a counselor to battered women. This city-girl had no knowledge of the supernatural forces and their battles until she befriends Destiny (Dark Destiny (The Carpathians (Dark) Series, Book 11)),a Carpathian. It was through their friendship that she becomes involved with the Carpathian race. And when called upon to help one of their women, Mary Ann willingly accepts. But she didn't expect to find herself in the middle of a battle between Carpathians and Vampires, nor did she expect that she will uncover things about herself that will put her in the path of one of the Carpathian warriors. It doesn't take long before Mary Ann realizes that she has been lured into a trap - a trap of sensual danger that will alter her life forever.
I thoroughly enjoyed Dark Celebration: A Carpathian Reunion (The Carpathians (Dark) Series, Book 14) and thought it was one of Feehan's best Carpathian novels. I was excited to read that Manolito's lifemate was in fact Mary Ann. I wasn't disappointed in their pairing as I thought that their chemistry was electric from their first meeting. However, the chemistry wasn't enough for me to gush over this book like some reviewers did. Firstly, I didn't buy into the whole "shadow world" thing. I can appreciate that it served to bring the dead Carpathians into the story but it felt contrived as the basis for Manolito's greatest battle before being able to overcome the darkness within him and claim his lifemate. I wanted action and romance but too much was invested in his emotional turmoil. Then you have the attempt to inject some humor by telling us of Mary Ann's obsession with designer clothes. She gets attacked by vampire and discovers something extraordinary about herself yet cries because Riordan conjured a flannelette shirt and scuffed sneakers for her? Sorry, but it all seemed foolish.
DARK POSSESSION isn't all that bad, just not Feehan's best. Perhaps I am more critical since this is the eighteenth book in the series and expected a lot more. The scenes where Mary Ann does battle with jaguar men, mage and vampire were exciting. It was also thrilling to see the jaguar women in action. If only there were more of these and less of the "shadow world" and obsession over the right pair of boots and jeans. I'm glad I didn't buy the hardcover.
Customer Rating: Summary: Best Dark Instalment so Far Comment: I have read 6 of Freehan's 15 Dark series novels and this one is my favorite so far. I found her main characters enjoyable and likable.
The quick story: Dangerously close to becoming a vampire, Manolito De La Cruz has been called back to his Carpathian homeland-and has unexpectedly caught the scent of his destined life mate, MaryAnn Delaney. MaryAnn is human and well aware of the aggressive instincts of Carpathian males. A counselor for battered women, MaryAnn has no room in her life for someone like Manolito. But when she goes to South America to offer guidance to a young woman, she has no idea of the trap awaiting her. For she's been lured there by Manolito, who has seductive plans for the irresistible human female. Once there, she'll be his. Once his, she'll never be released. She is his dark possession.
Spoilers:
MaryAnn is likable and funny, you feel like you can understand where she is coming from. She is modern and realistic in a lot of ways. Manolito is one of my favorite if not my favorite Carpathian male so far. He is horribly sexy and dominate in all the right ways. I enjoyed how he had crossed over to the dark side already and she had to bring him back, it was great how Freehan describe the other reality. Pretty good story line and there was plenty of action in-between the sex...best Dark installment so far!
Customer Rating: Summary: Dark Possession Comment: The book was excellent the sender got it right to me. I would use them again, to bad I had already read it I wish the books had a synopsis written that might have triggered my memory
Customer Rating: Summary: paranormal romance Comment: Reading a Carpathian novel is like wishing they were the guy next door ,they are everything you would like in a man except maybe the bossiness. Christine Feeham has the most amazing writing ability she always captivates her readers simply the best books to read ever.
Customer Rating: Summary: Such a Great Author and Such an AWFUL book!!! Comment: This is an outstanding author who has provided me with countless hours of relaxation and entertainment. I hate writing a negative review because of our positive past history. However to be fair---this book is such a confusing mess, completely unable to stand alone without SIGNIFICANT prior background knowledge from her series--that it is virtually unreadable. So many of her other books are worth it. Save a poor tree and avoid this purchase.
