They’re smart, sexy, and supernatural. They’re the men and women of the Otherworld—a realm of witches, ghosts, and werewolves who live unseen among us. Only now a reckless killer has torn down the wall, trapping one very human woman in the supernatural cross fire.
Robyn Peltier moved to Los Angeles after her young husband’s sudden death, trying to put some distance between herself and her memories. Though she’s still grieving, the challenges of her new life as the PR consultant to Portia Kane—the world’s most famous celebutante wannabe—can sometimes be amusing, even distracting. But when her client is gunned down in the back room of a nightclub, Robyn is suddenly on the run as the prime suspect in the murder. And as more bodies pile up around her, it seems like only Hope Adams, Robyn’s best friend, and Hope’s somewhat spooky boyfriend Karl are on Robyn’s side. Hope Adams follows the kinds of stories whose headlines scream from supermarket checkout lines. But the difference is that Hope’s stories are even weirder—and they’re all true. Though determined to help Robyn, Hope knows it’s only a matter of time before her friend is caught. But it’s not the police Hope is worried about. For Robyn has gotten herself in the middle of a turf war between two powerful Otherworld cabals who’ll spill any amount of blood—human and inhuman—to protect what they consider theirs for all eternity. And the only way Hope can keep her friend alive is by letting her enter a world she’s safer knowing nothing about.

Customer Rating: Summary: Another winner. Comment: I've read all of Kelley Armstrong series. Just keep waiting on her to write the next one.
I'm going to read all of the Men of the Otherworld series also.
Excellent reads.
Customer Rating: Summary: You'll be swept up in this latest, thrilling ride. Comment: PR consultant Robyn Peltier has moved to Los Angeles after the shooting death of her husband. She is hired by celebutant wannabe, Portia Kane to clean up her image. Robyn doesn't get much time to do this when while at a club with Portia, Robyn discovers her shot and bleeding to death. To make matters worse, she is found standing over the body with the gun in her hand and runs.
Robyn's old High School friend, part chaos demon Hope Adams, who is in town on a "work exchange" for her paper, vows to clear her friend's name. Along with her lover, werewolf and jewel thief, Karl Marsten they discover that rather than a simple murder Robyn has stumbled into the middle of a paranormal turf war.
The detective assigned to the case is John "Finn" Findley who is a necromancer. He is one of the city's best homicide detectives thanks to the inside information the deceased ghost usually gives him. The dead bodies start piling up, and though he doesn't believe Robyn to be guilty, the evidence against her is becoming more damning.
I enjoyed this compelling installment of the Otherworld series. While unlike the other novels in this series, it uses a third person point of view and a human protagonist; Ms. Armstrong does a nice job in linking these different viewpoints. However, be forewarned, this story is complex and by no means a jumping off point for new readers. The development of Hope and Karl's relationship and the introduction of Robyn and Finn are well done. Plus, having a human POV is a refreshing change that readers can empathize with. Plus, the twist at the end makes it all worth it.
Ms. Armstrong is a singular talent in her field. Call it Urban Fantasy or Paranormal romance, but she does it well. I recommend Living With the Dead to fans of these stories. You'll be swept up in this latest, thrilling ride.
Ms. Armstrong's next book is Men of the Otherworld an anthology of four stories that she wrote for free on the net with one new one. All the proceeds from the sale of the upcoming book goes to World Literary of Canada. So, be sure to pick it up.

Customer Rating: Summary: Another One from the Woman of the Underworld Comment: So far I have liked all the books I have read by Kelly Armstrong, this one features Hope and Karl again, but it is Robyn's story. Robyn is Hope's friend and she is accused of a murder she didn't commit and she is all human, not a supernatural. Robyn moved to LA, after the death of her husband, he was shot while attemping to help someone fix a tire and Robyn wanted to start over. Robyn goes into PR work and someone kills her client and she is suddenly a suspect in the murder. Hope and Karl are trying to help Robyn as she finds herself in the middle of a turf war between two Otherworld Cabals.
Customer Rating: Summary: Decent read Comment: I have read other books in the Women of the Otherword- good thing too. There was a lot of jumping around in this book. Too many separate plot lines going. That said, I do like the 2 main protagonists and their friends and. The book is fast paced; the characters complicated and engaging. For the most part, I enjoy this author's books. I especially like how characters from her previous books show up for cameo appearences.
Customer Rating: Summary: 3.5 stars - Pleasant enough visit to Armstrong's Otherworld Comment: Living with the Dead is not quite what I expected coming on the heels of Personal Demon (Women of the Otherworld, Book 8), which left Lucas in a quandry that I had thought would lead to some interesting upheaval in the overall story arc of the series. Instead Lucas is a minor off-screen character here and we continue on with half choas demon Hope and her werewolf mate Karl. But Living with the dead is more multithreaded than Armstrong's previous books and Hope and Karl share the screen time with: 1) Hope's best friend and grieving widow, human Robyn, who muddles into a murder scene and is accused of killing her Paris Hilton-like boss 2) the actual murderer (it's not a spoiler, we're 'in the know' all along) a clarvoiyant who is willing to rack up the body count to keep a secret and 3) the ghost whispering Police detective, Finn, who is aided in his investigation of the murder by a ghost who has a personal interest in seeing Robin cleared. Out of all of the characters in the book I think that I enjoyed Finn and his ghostly assistant the most.
While Living with the Dead was a pleasant enough read, and I am now officially tired of Hope. In the last book I was happy to see more of her and Karl, and glad to see them back together but now -- even though I've always loved the werewolf jewel thief -- I'm ready to move on to more Nast/Cortez cabal intrigue or to check-in with some of the other Otherworld council members.
I don't know what's up next for the women of the Otherworld, but if you want to see more of the men, Armstrong is releasing an anthology of stories (some were originally available on her website), The Living with the Dead (Women of the Otherworld, Book 9), so you can find out the scoop on Jeremy and Clay while having the satisfaction of knowing that Armstrong is donating profits from the book to charity.
