Half-demon Hope Adams has inherited not only a gift for seeing the past but a hunger for chaos---along with a talent for finding it wherever she can. Naturally, when she's chosen by a very dangerous group for a very dangerous mission, she jumps at the chance. As it turns out, Hope is a little too good at this job, and she soon finds it necessary to unleash her most potent primal instincts---and open herself, mind and body, to everything she most fears...and desires.

Customer Rating: Summary: Too much.... Comment: Hope Adams, Lucifer's daughter, tabloid report and half demon with a taste for chaos, ventures to Miami Florida to become a petty thief in an attempt to repay a favor owed to Cortez Cabal by going undercover in a gang that has been giving Cortez some grief. She has no idea that her ex-werewolf boyfriend, Karl is in town and there to save the day. While she's trying to succeed in her undercover objective, she starts to fall for Jaz, a gang-banger...and when things start to go pear shaped, Hope is forced to enlist the help of Lucas and Paige when she is clearly in too deep.
This book is a weak installment of this urban fantasy series...it has too many people too many shifts in narrative (even though the reader is informed who is going to do the narrative at the beginning of each chapter) and the this at times is jarring...to the reader and makes it difficult to connect. Hope is not a compelling character and rather weak to be carrying this 500+ page book. Ms. Armstrong is a strong and talented writer and I look forward to her next effort. This one though does not measure up to what she is capable of producing.
Customer Rating: Summary: Okay but not her best Comment: While I've enjoyed all of the books in this series, I found Personal Demon to be below my expectations. The biggest detraction for this edition of the Women of the Otherworld series is that it employs multiple first person sections, alternating between the perspective of Hope and Lucas. The main thrust spends time with internal dialogue of Hope Adams with minor points spend in Lucas's thoughts. If this was a setup for a future novel exploring Lucas's anticipated ascension as his father's heir, I believe it could've been better served in 3rd person or a novel on its own. As is, it was initially confusing (Armstrong has not done this before to my knowledge) and distracting from the focus of Hope as the main character.
Customer Rating: Summary: Love the book Comment: I absolutely love the women of the other world series!!
Cant wait for men of the otherworld.
Customer Rating: Summary: Not my favorite Comment: I'm a Kelley Armstrong fan, and although I have read (and in this case listened) to many of her books, she has written a few duds, and this one is one of them. My biggest issue with this story was that Hope was just boring. For someone with the moniker 'Lucifer's daughter' she's as interesting as vanilla pudding. I just did not care about her or her 'chaos sense' power, her relationship with Karl or Jazz or the demons and the cabal.
Hope shows little remorse and little humanity in her actions. The gang itself, the workings of the club and its initiaton rites were boring. I just kept losing interest.
I didn't finish this one and I doubt I ever will. Here's hoping (no pun intended) the next one will be better.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Series Comment: I really enjoyed this book, I have read several of the books from the Women of the Otherworld Series, but have missed reading some of them. However the ones that I have read I have enjoyed reading. In this book Hope a Half Demon goes undercover as a mole to find out all she can about a gang. She starts to fall for one of the gang members Jaz and goes out on jobs with him, but Jaz may not be all that he seems to be. Lucas and Paige appear as well as Karl. There is lots of action in this book and it is very fast paced.
