Summary: Very useful and fun!
Comment: As a professional photographer, I love this magazine! It is such a great resource for business help, marketing ideas, and inspiration. If you have a photography business, this magazine is a fantastic tool packed with loads of helpful information from other successful photographers. Can't say enough about this magazine!

Summary: Beware!
Comment: Please beware. This magazine is a business publication, which means that they need to prove that their readership is comprised of professionals to their third party circulation auditing firm, BPA Worldwide. This means that they need to know the primary business activity and job title of each subscriber receiving the magazine. While I was assured that my address would not be sold by law, the person at the magazine could not tell me whether this is only outside BPA Worldwide advertisers, or if there was an opt-in or opt-out policy. The magazine subscription will be canceled if they cannot obtain this information from you- or you can choose to ignore their requests and hope you still get all of your magazines.

I am not in the habit of buying something, and then being told I can only continue to receive the product if I reveal my job title.

The magazine is also of poor quality, and not very informative. I would stick with PDN (industry), Apeture(art), and Popular Photography(technical).

Summary: It's called Professional Photographer for a reason.
Comment: This magazine is called Professional Photographer for a reason... it's written for professional photographers! If you're an amateur photographer looking for tips and tricks then enjoy your Popular Photography & Imaging magazine.

If you're a professional portrait photographer who wants to learn new business ideas, earn more money, improve your marketing, or learn about what other Pros are doing, then first join PPA (www.ppa.com) and you'll get this magazine for free with membership. If you're not totally committed to the membership idea then try this magazine for a year. You won't be disappointed.

I read my issues cover to cover as soon as I get them. They're full of great information that I can apply to my business immediately. The writing is excellent and the magazine design has won several awards as well. This magazine offers bonus web content as well at www.ppmag.com . This is easily my favorite photography magazine.

Summary: Good magazine -- for it's intended audience.
Comment: Professional Photographer is a solid, useful magazine for its intended audience -- established professional portrait/wedding photographers, who already know their craft. If you are looking for basic (or exotic) techniques, try something else, like Photo Techniques. If you are interested in the current state of the *industry*, and ways to improve your business, as well as get some good ideas for new directions and techniques to try, read PP.

Summary: Not worth it.
Comment: The articles are pretty short, meaningless and lots of ads. I was expecting tips and tricks for photography techniques and didn't really find anything useful. I would not spend money on this magazine.
