Summary: Our favorite (favourite) cooking magazine
Comment: We bought several issues of the magazine while living in the UK for a few years, and kept them with us when we moved back to the States. They're still our primary source for recipes, and we have yet to find a better magazine. The recipes focus on the freshest garden ingredients of the season (naturally, there are a lot of root vegetable recipes in the winter -- this is Britain, after all). We can generally manage to find all the ingredients in the States, except that paneer (Indian cheese) has been a challenge. Remember, rocket = arugula, courgettes = zucchini, aubergines = eggplant, and coriander = cilantro.

Summary: Best Cooking Magazine
Comment: I love this magazine. I bought my first issue in Kenyatta airport when my flight got delayed and I was desperate for reading material. My best purchase in Kenya! When my husband went to London I had him pick up the next issue. Great healthy, practical recipes and beautiful pictures, plus helpful information. It's fun to read some of the terms the British use for cooking. I lament that there are no discounted US subscription rates. Maybe if enough of us buy it in the US, they will find they have a market with us!

Summary: Best Food Magazine(except maybe for its sister Olive)
Comment: I have been reading BBC Good Food off and on for almost four years. It has consistently been better than any other food magazine period. (although its new sister from the BBC called Olive may give it a run for its money). Olive seems to have taken over a few of the features they used to run in this magazine and even without them, this is still the best there is. [...]

Summary: BBC Good Food Magazine
Comment: This magazine was recommended to me by a friend who lives in England. I am so glad I took the time to search it out (Barnes and Noble in Las Vegas) and read it. It's truly a cornucopia of all the wonderful British cooking shows rolled into one easy to read and understand magazine. The ideas, recipes and tips are terrific!! Each recipe is rated for ease, too!

As stated, the subscription price seems to be a bit high. I paid $5.95 for my copy and I will continue to read it each month from now on.

Summary: Love the magazine, too high subscription price!
Comment: I absolutely love this magazine - I was first introduced to it when I visited England last year. I highly recommend getting it, but the subscription price is excessively high, IMHO. I've been able to buy it at Border's stores for approximately $6 an issue. I suppose if it's worth it to you to get it delivered for an extra $2 a month, go for it. But I'm one of those weird people who thinks a subscription to a magazine should be cheaper than newsstand. :)

Though the only complaint I have about the newsstand issue is that the latest one I bought mentioned that I got a free wooden spoon when buying - only there wasn't one. Hopefully if you get the subscription you would also get the freebies, but I wouldn't count on it.

And things like courgettes and capiscum don't bother me - but it did take me a while to figure out what caster sugar was! And where to find it. But overall a fantastic magazine, I can't wait to get the Christmas issue!

(PS - even though the review states I live in MD, I was able to buy this magazine off the rack in NC, so not just able to get it because I live in a metropolitan area)
