Customer Rating: Summary: It Works and it Works WELL Comment: For the past two weeks our use of this machine has been consistent and the results from the readouts are the same: consistent.
Before buying the 790, I took my old 711 to the cardiologist for measurement. The 711 was close to 100%. Doc said that is normal and suggested the 711 normally runs a tad high. By developing a statistical base I could now compare the 711 to the 790 to see if the comparison holds true. It held true. Given the difference in models, the bottom line is that the 790 works as well as the 711 BUT with major differences. You can have two separate users. That's nice for us. You can have two separate histories. Nice. The cuff on the 790 works so much better than the 711. While somewhat cheap, the 790 carrying case is still better than nothing. The 790 is fast even when using the 3 time average method (our favorite). Regardless of how well the 790 records blood pressure it has one additional factor that makes the price worthwhile: the software. In a few weeks I will visit my cardiologist with a printout of the 790's and the 720's pedometer's histories. While some of the numbers are not where I would want them they are the numbers and they provide information that could potentially save one's life. I know that to be true for my sake since I am writing this from the light side.
Customer Rating: Summary: Very Happy Comment: The monitor and software are easy to use. I did take the monitor to my doctor and the results on my monitor come out a little higher than on the instruments in the doctors office but within a few points. It gives me piece of mind to know my medication is working.
Customer Rating: Summary: MY DOCTOR VERY IMPRESSED WITH UNIT Comment: My doctor very impressed with this unit. It was compared with his machine and mine and it was very close to his. I knew before he said any thing that what he was using was the best but this unit was the next best thing for me to use since it was easy to use plus I was able to keep a record of my past blood pressures and print them out for him.
Customer Rating: Summary: very impressed Comment: So glad I bought this monitor.VERY EASY to use.Just one touch and it does the rest. My husband and I have health issues and we check our blood pressure 3 times a day, write it on a chart and fax it to our Doctor.
Our Doctor is glad we bought it too,he said to keep up the good work.
We very highly reccomend this product!
Customer Rating: Summary: I HATE this machine!!!! Comment: I am an RN and feel I know well enough to know how to use an electronic BP cuff. I get error messages about 90% of the time. Today I took it about 25 times and only got 2 readings that worked. That is enough to make anyone want to chuck it into the trash. Don't depend on this machine to be there for you in the case it is imperative to know your blood pressure. I am 36 weeks pregnant and I have been forced to take my own blood pressure MANUALLY during dizzy spells due to this machines malfunctions (and it is not easy to do when you feel you are about to pass out). Also, this machine will not take your BP standing up, which is imperative to diagnose orthostatic hypotension (a drop in blood pressure when you stand up as evidenced by feeling dizzy). The Omron rep. says you have to be sitting at all times and must have everything perfect (cuff, hose, fingers, not talk, feet flat, etc) for it to work....and EVEN THEN the chance of getting a error message or inaccurate reading are high. Yesterday I got a reading of 127/109... then in the same minute....and error...then the next minute I got a reading of 105/73. I never moved the cuff, myself or the machine. It just seems to want to do whatever it feels like doing. There are just too many variables to watch and this is simply unacceptable when someone is not feeling well. I have a patient who has a wrist cuff and it works just about 100% of the time...sitting AND standing. (it is also accurate when compared to my manual readings) I am going to find out what brand it is and buy THAT one. I will just give this one to Goodwill or something...but I have to admit, I am tempted to just put it in the trash to spare someone else the problems. What a waste of money as I have only had this for 2 months. I would NOT recommend this to anyone that depends on getting getting an reading in less than 5 or 7 tries...and even then, the accuracy in the reading you get is severely questionable.
