Begin your journey to the clouds with Etrian Odyssey II - Heroes of Lagaard - Nintendo DS. In the Grand Duchy of High Lagaard, it is said that the Duke is descended from inhabitants of a castle in the sky. When an unforeseen crisis befalls the nation, it is decreed that the first explorer to retrieve the Grail of Kings from that mythical floating palace will be rewarded with wealth and fame beyond imagining.

Customer Rating: Summary: Very difficult Comment: A classic dungeon crawler with lots of equipment and items. Extremely difficult, several hours into the game I was forced to level up to continue, then again just a couple floors later. If you want a challenge, this will be worth it. Overall a great game, just a little steep of a learning curve.
Customer Rating: Summary: Very Hard game that willl take a while to master if you are new to these type games. Comment: I am mainly a brain game person but I like to relax and just play also like Luxor or Clubhouse Games. I read the reviews on how difficult this game is and fun also. It will be a great brain challenge. Just getting your team formed is difficult and I have to admit my first run in the forrest we all got killed.
So if you need a great game for a gamer or someone who just wants a challenge this is it. The rating is E 10+ I have seen nothing offensive yet. I am quite conservitive and so far it is alright.
I think any adult who like fantasy stories/games will enjoy this challenge. To me it's on the level of MYST which I also have not mastered.
Customer Rating: Summary: Toughest game EVER! Comment: This game is a kind of sequel to the original Etrian Odyssey, which I considered already the toughest and most addictive game I've ever played. The first one took me a whole year to finish!
This second installment is not a real sequel, since it takes place in a whole different place and labyrinth (although it might be the same labyrinth, this time climbing up instead of down the Yggdrasil Labyrinth). And even though the interface has a lot of improvements, this new game plays like the first one on "expert mode"!
If you haven't played the first Etrian Odyssey, I would recommend you tackle that one first (good luck finding it, though!). If you played the first one and liked it, you will definitely LOVE this one!
Customer Rating: Summary: Another good RPG Comment: I'm not a "hardcore" gamer, but I have played many RPG's over the year, and I really like this one. I haven't finished it, but so far it consists almost exclusively of dungeon delving. The combat system is pretty basic, swinging swords and throwing spells/skills at groups of monsters who appear before you--not a lot of tactical maneuvering here. One interesting thing, you collect seemingly worthless items to bring back to the store, where the weaponsmith will make progressively better items for sale to your characters. The mapping is pretty basic, but still engaging. And the story is original (you don't have to sit on the A button watching dialogue for hours).
Once again, I'm not a hardcore gamer, and I haven't played the first Etrian Odyssey, but I love this one.
Customer Rating: Summary: You don't need to play the first one to enjoy the second Comment: I bought the first one played it for a few minutes and decided I didn't like it. Well I saw the second one and the improved controls and decided to give it a try. It is a wonderful game.
Mapping: Not as hard as it sounds, the floors are mapped for you, you just need to add the walls, doors and other notes.
Characters: I love the chracter portraits so cute. It is fairly easy to get a good balance party. And the skills the characters can learn you are told what the prerequisite skills are for other skills so if you want to work towards a particular skill it is easy to plan.
Monsters: Arghh! The pain of the roaming monsters leads to death of the party from time to time, but with strategic planning on how to move around and saving up of your force points you can take them down. I enjoy seeing what new monsters I am going to come across with each new level I come to.
Overall I am currently quite addicted to the game and I highly recommend it for others that like dungeon crawls.
